13 Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Have to Get “Cracked” at the Chiropractor? What Is That Sound?
No—chiropractic care does not always involve the “cracking” or popping sound. That sound is simply gas being released from the joint, not your bones breaking. Many gentle, low-force chiropractic techniques are available that restore alignment without the audible pop. If you prefer a softer approach, I use low-force methods that are highly effective and tailored to your comfort. If you are comfortable with more high velocity adjustments (the cracking), we can talk about it more during your visit.
Once I Start Chiropractic Care, Do I Have to Keep Going Forever?
A common misconception is that chiropractic care never ends. In reality, my goal is to address your specific concerns and help your body function at its best. Many patients choose to continue care because they notice how much better they feel, but it’s always your choice. After completing your individualized plan, you can decide if you’d like to continue with periodic maintenance visits or return only when needed.
What Is Maintenance or Recovery Care?
Think of chiropractic care like dental hygiene or car maintenance—it works best when you stay consistent. Once initial imbalances are addressed, ongoing care helps keep your spine, pelvis, and nervous system balanced. Everyday stressors—sitting at a desk, carrying children, scrolling on phones—can slowly create dysfunction. Regular chiropractic visits help prevent small issues from becoming larger problems.
How Is Chiropractic Care Different from Physical Therapy?
Chiropractic care restores spinal and pelvic alignment, improving nervous system function and the body’s ability to heal. Physical therapy focuses more on strengthening muscles, improving range of motion, and rehabilitation after injury. Both are valuable and can be complementary—chiropractic often addresses the root structural imbalances while PT builds strength and stability around them.
Can I Receive Chiropractic Adjustments if I’m Pregnant?
Yes! Prenatal chiropractic care is safe, gentle, and specifically designed to help with pregnancy changes. Adjustments can reduce back pain, improve pelvic alignment, and promote balance as your body prepares for birth. I use low-force techniques, including Webster Method, that are supportive at every stage of pregnancy.
Please note: Gyno-Fascial Rebalancing™ is not performed during pregnancy. As my mentor says, “It’s not a good idea to disturb the nest.”
Can Men Receive Treatment at This Practice?
Yes. While my focus is women’s pelvic health, my low-force chiropractic care is open to all. Men also experience pelvic misalignment, hip pain, back pain, and nervous system imbalances. The same gentle, effective techniques benefit everyone.
What Is Pelvic Floor Rebalancing (Gyno-Fascial Rebalancing™)?
Pelvic Floor Rebalancing is a specialized pelvic floor therapy that integrates chiropractic adjustments with fascial release for the pelvis. By releasing tension in the muscles and fascia of the pelvic floor, we can:
Improve posture and core strength
Reduce symptoms linked to bladder control, pelvic pain, or reproductive function
Enhance sexual health and body awareness
This work addresses both the structural and energetic balance of the pelvis, restoring harmony from the inside out.
How Long Is Each Session? What Should I Expect?
First session: 60 minutes, including intake, exam, and 15–20 minutes of bodywork. We’ll discuss your history, goals, and concerns, then I’ll review pelvic anatomy with a model to ensure comfort and understanding.
Follow-up sessions: 45 minutes of focused bodywork.
During treatment, I may assess pelvic muscles internally (such as Kegel engagement) and use techniques like intravaginal massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, breathwork, and visualization. Sessions also include pelvic joint assessment and chiropractic adjustments as needed.
Unlike a speculum exam, this approach emphasizes alignment, organ positioning, and fascial health. Patients often describe sessions as warm, grounding, and deeply restorative—many notice improved energy flow, reduced symptoms, and stronger pelvic muscles.
Is Pelvic Floor Rebalancing Painful?
Most patients find sessions comfortable. Some techniques may bring mild intensity, especially if tension or trauma has been stored in the area. I always use a trauma-informed, low-force approach and check in regularly to ensure you feel safe and at ease.
How Does Pelvic Floor Rebalancing Support Reproductive Health?
By improving pelvic circulation, releasing fascial restrictions, and aligning the pelvic organs, this therapy supports the body’s natural reproductive functions. Many women report improvements with:
Menstrual discomfort
Pelvic pain
Awareness of fertility and body rhythms
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Healing takes time, especially when addressing long-standing patterns. Research suggests six hours of fascial bodywork provides the best therapeutic outcomes. That’s why I recommend an initial 6–8 session series. From there, we’ll reassess and create a personalized plan for ongoing wellness if needed.
Do I Have to Book Pelvic Floor Work, or Can I Just Get an Adjustment?
No, you don’t have to do pelvic floor therapy. Many patients come only for low-force chiropractic adjustments, while others combine chiropractic with pelvic work. If you book a pelvic floor session, it will include an adjustment as part of the appointment. You’re free to choose whichever service meets your needs.
What About Insurance?
I am currently out-of-network. If your plan offers out-of-network chiropractic benefits, I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies by provider, so check your plan to see what portion of care might be included.
